Welcome aboard Spencer and Luc by Neal Whiteside

We are happy to announce that Spencer Pakulak and Luc Harvey have joined WSE.

Luc is graduating from the UBC Civil Engineering Program this spring and will join WSE in July (after a short climbing holiday). Luc completed an 8 month work term with WSE in 2018 as a coop student.

Spencer is joining WSE in June 2019. Spencer is currently completing the Civil Engineering Technologist program at BCIT.

We are excited to add Spencer and Luc to the team!

2019 BCWWA Annual Conference - WSE Presentations by Neal Whiteside


Hope to see everyone at the BCWWA annual conference this year in Victoria (May 26 to 28). This year, Water Street Engineering (WSE) will be giving three presentations. 

On Tuesday morning (8:30 to 9:00), Neal Whiteside will present on Assessing Densification Impacts on Residential Water Demands (co-authors are Allan Bronsro of WSE, and Aaron Licker of Licker Geospatial Consulting Co.). Summarizing a project recently completed for Metro Vancouver estimating changes to water demand unit rates that could occur as a result of residential densification.

On Tuesday afternoon, Neal Whiteside and Allan Bronsro will present back-to-back talks on evaluation of existing water systems and design of new water distribution piping in seismic areas. Covering work completed recently for the City of Surrey. The 2 presentations are:

  • Water Distribution Seismic Resiliency – Evaluating Existing Piping 

  • Advances and Current Practices for Earthquake Resistant Water Distribution Piping 

MMCD Certified Contract Administrator by Neal Whiteside

Water Street Engineering would like to congratulate Stuart Fretwell for receiving certification as a MMCD Certified Contract Administrator (CCA). As a CCA, Stu is looking forward to providing clients and contractors with his added experience gained through MMCD’s training program. Happy New Year & Welcome Brendan Ward by Neal Whiteside

Water Street Engineering would like to say thanks to all of those that we have worked with over the past year which contributed to a successful 2018. We wish everyone the best in the New Year.

We would also like to introduce Brendan Ward to the WSE team. Brendan is a fourth-year UBC co-op who will be with us for eight months before returning to finish his degree. Welcome Brendan!


Christine Norquist Moves On by Neal Whiteside

Christine Norquist has taken a full time position as a project manager with CDM Smith's Burnaby office. Christine had been working with WSE as a part-time contract engineer for WSE.  

Best wishes to Christine in her new position. We also are hopeful to continue to work with (or for) Christine as project opportunities allow in her new position.  Christine's new contact email is norquistce@cdmsmith.com.

Welcome Stu by Neal Whiteside

We are happy to introduce a new member of WSE's team: Stuart Fretwell. 

Stu is a Professional Engineer with seven years of municipal engineering experience.  Stu’s design experience includes large and small diameter water mains, sewers and force mains, sanitary sewer lift stations, and chlorination systems.  He also has significant topographic survey, CAD drafting, construction management, and field review experience.  Stuart’s previous experience as a surveyor and design technologist provide Stu with extensive practical design and layout experience for linear infrastructure. 

Stu helps round out our team especially with respect to detailed design and construction managment services.
