ACEC Award for Engineering Excellence Submission – Foster Pump Station

Water Street is excited to participate in the 2026 Association of Consulting Engineering Companies BC (ACEC-BC) Awards for Engineering Excellence in the Small Firm Project category, celebrating innovation and technical excellence across the industry. We’re proud to feature our Foster Pump Station project in this year’s submissions.

Our team worked with the City of Coquitlam to develop and deliver a water supply strategy to address long-standing issues related to low pressures areas, operational complexity, and limited water turnover, which were being exacerbated by residential densification. Our solution involved modernizing the 1970s Foster Pump Station, added a new PRV station, and optimizing the City’s existing water main network to create a new pressure zone. The resulting Burnaby Mountain Pressure Zones benefit from improved supply reliability and efficiency, while the City avoided the need for a new pumping facility.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful planning and smart reuse of assets can deliver meaningful value for growing communities.
