Spanish Banks Pump Station Updgrades

Year:

2020 and 2024

LOCATION:

Vancouver, BC

CLIENT:

MTS Engineering Inc, Metro Vancouver

Project Description:

Water Street has been working on Metro Vancouver’s Spanish Banks Sewage Pump Station with lead consultant MTS Engineering since 2020. Initial work comprised of conceptual designs of a forcemain flow meter chamber. Subsequently, Water Street assessed the mechanical condition of the pumping and piping systems, and developed upgrade options to increase the firm capacity of the station.

The conceptual designs for the flow meter included fitting vaults into challenging and constrained sites near major parks and designing to Metro piping standards with consideration of maintainability, access, safety, and construction phasing.

Pumping upgrade assessments considered challenging wetwell conditions, including working with a non-standard inline suction arrangement with limited volume capacity and submersion.
