Project Description:
Water Street led an assessment of required storm sewer sizing and regional stormwater pond sizing for a new townhouse development at the 200th Street Corridor (8393 – 200 Street) in the Township of Langley.
The scope of this project included sizing the storm sewer mains and assessing the maximum achievable storage area for a regional stormwater pond considering the site constraints. The analysis built on targets from a regional drainage plan by addressing climate change storm volumes and topographic constraints that reduced the feasible drainage area that could be controlled by the pond. Analysis of the regional drainage plan confirmed that pre-development discharge targets were unrealistic, and an updated hydrologic model was developed to determine appropriate targets for control requirements. After confirming discharge targets, a preliminary pond design was completed and the maximum drainage area that could be controlled by the pond was determined.
