Project Description:

Spartan Controls retained Water Street Engineering Ltd. (WSE) to complete an independent review of the valves and fabricated water control gates at Metro Vancouver’s Northwest Langley Waste Water Treatment Plant (NWL WWTP). This work was part of an upgrade project to the WWTP completed by the project contractor: Maple Reinders.

WSE completed field reviews of the finished installation of a total of sixty valves and actuators including fabricated slide gate valves (up to 1 x 2m), fabricated butterfly gates (1.2 m square), knife gate valves (up to 600 mm dia), butterfly valves (up to 450 mm dia), ball valves, and mud valves.  The valves included a variety of manual and electric actuators.  The field reviews focussed on determining acceptable operation and conformance with manufacturer’s requirements and identifying deficiencies.
