Project Description:
Water Street was retained by the Village of Harrison Hot Springs to develop Water System, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Sewer Master Plans. The Master Plans focus on assessing current system performance, addressing growth and redevelopment, and creating a long-term strategy to ensure the Village’s water, sanitary, and storm sewer systems are robust, equipped for future demands, and resilient to climate change.
Water Street developed comprehensive analyses of the Village’s water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems. The team focused on key infrastructure facilities in the systems, such as pump stations, sewage lift stations and wet wells. Storm sewer and sanitary sewer flow monitoring stations were set up at key locations to calibrate and verify accuracy of the models.
Water Street updated and calibrated previous models for each system using WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, and PCSWMM. Water Street utilized the most recent census data for the region along with stakeholder input to address redevelopment and growth trends for the village. The team evaluated the impacts of climate change on sanitary loads by balancing reduced per-capita water use with increases in runoff derived inflow and infiltration (RDII) to develop a resilient plan. The storm sewer analysis evaluated impacts of climate change through application of updated design storm precipitation estimates for the 2050 time period with moderate emissions.
