Salmon Arm Complete Communities Study and Evaluation

Year:

2023-2024

LOCATION:

Salmon Arm, BC

CLIENT:

City of Salmon Arm

Project Description:

Water Street was engaged by Licker Geospatial to assist with the City of Salmon Arm’s Complete Communities Study and Evaluation. The City initiated this project to assess the impacts of higher-density development on water and sewer infrastructure. The study is part of the City’s efforts to inform its new Official Community Plan (OCP) and guide land use, housing, transportation, and infrastructure decisions.

Water Street’s scope included water and sanitary sewer modeling to determine trunk system deficiencies and upgrades required to support higher density within a study area. Three densification scenarios were assessed with revised water and sanitary sewer demands. Using the City’s hydraulic models, the team evaluated peak-hour pressures, available fire flows, and peak wet weather flows, assessing the impacts on key infrastructure and recommending capital upgrades to accommodate each growth scenario.
